As most of you know, I am a big advocate of getting your children into the world of outdoors sports at an early age. I have written many articles and have posted on many forums on this subject including this post here.


I have talked about my youngest and how he is about ready for his first real fishing trip. Of course to yo and me it’s not really much of a trip since we are just going to a small lake in the Tulsa area, but to him it’s gong to be an adventure. I can still remember my first fishing experience. I fished from the side of a river bank with my Grandfather and my brother. My fishing gear consisted of an old fishing rod without a reel. Fishing line was attached to the last eye so it was rigged up to be used similar to how you would use a cane pole. That day is one of the top 5 fishing memories that I have. That was the day I was hooked for life.
